I'm trying to recall the name of this room in a hospital. I remember being in one only once in my life, when I was maybe six or seven years old, and I've seen something similar to it once or twice on House MD.

It's a small room, with the only furiture being chairs or couches (and maybe something else, but I don't remember). When my great-grandmother passed away, the doctor took our whole family into this room to break the news to us. All I remember from it was being the only child, and everyone around me was crying. We stayed there until they had all stopped crying.

Obviously, it was some sort of grief room. But I don't know the official name of it. Can anyone please help me with this? Thanks.

Where I live, it's called a quiet room.

Not every hospital has such rooms and not every hospital calls it by the same thing. I've seen them called Family rooms, bereavement rooms, quiet tooms. Privacy rooms and other things.
