There's an 80's movie I want to know the name.

I vaguely remember it, but its about this kid from the 60's I think.
He died in a car race, to see who can go the farthest without going over the cliff, his opened lost but his car brake went bad. So he went over the cliff and died, and instead of going to heaven, he was sent to a Ghost subway? I think.
So when he got an assignment to do, it was a dork teen kid, the kid was the only one that could see him.
In the end of the movie, the ghost found out that the kid he was assigned to help was his son. He died before knowing he was going to become a father.

Please help me! I really liked the movie!

I know the movie... the 'ghost' - actually an angel, was from the 50s (I think). The name Teen Angel comes to mind but I'm not sure that's it. And while I could pick the headliner out of a photo array, I can't think of his name. I'll cogitate on it a while...

There's a site "IMDb.com" Internet Movie Data base that has over 1 million movie and TV titles on file. Every bit of info about them is there!! The internal search can be by plot, name, keyword, writer, release date, etc. I mean it's awesome! My daughter is a teacher and movie buff and told me about it. I thought I had the link, but can't find it. LOL Have to go there and add it to my favorites I guess.
