Hi we are in las vegas nv.If you rent from a home owner is the a legal grace period, for paying rent?And this apt is a third of the house with it's own entry,with a blocked door between , should there be smoke detecter in this unit,it is separate,but connected to the main house.The last question ,one of my rooms has no windows or ,it is like night in that room ,you need lights on even I the day.The landlord,told me weeks berore I moved here,that she would put up a door with glass in it ,so I would get day light ,but that has been months.I have asked ,but I get ,oh I will see about it when I am off,it never gets done.But she is at my door the day of the rent is due,She will come and leave me notes,then come back after work at 8;30, won t give you any time

I've moved your post to the Real Estate Forum. At that top of this forum is a link to state laws on Landlord/Tenant relations.

Generally grace periods are NOT stautory. Rent is due on the date the lease says its due. The lease may specify a grace period, but if it doesn't then you don't have one.

As for smoke detectors, check with your local firehouse, they should know the law on smoke detectors.

As for the light, unless you have her promise in writing, you don't have any recourse.
