I have a two handle faucet bath/shower system with the pull to change the bath water to come out of the shower head on the faucet itself. When I pull it to change to a shower, half of the water comes out the shower and half is still coming out of the faucet. What do I need to do to fix this? Also, any help with vocabulary is greatly appreciated. I'm new to home ownership and have no idea what these parts are called. I also have no idea what the make or model is on the faucet.

You need to replace the tub spout, that's the part where the water comes out. There are two types. One screws on and off, the other has a set screw underneath near the wall that you lossen and then pull the spout off the pipe.

LeahKD - The trouble is in the "spiket" it self , All you need to do is to replace it with a new one. These types do wear out , some of them the pull up part can be replaced. The part I am talking about is the part that the water comes comes out of . You can go to a plumbing store , Home Depot , or to Lowe's, { NOTE - There is a difference on the inside of them :: So take the old one off and take it with you to get the new one } { NOW to take the old one off - Take a large pair off channel locks OR a large adjustable jaw wrench that will fit on the spikket, Turn it counter clock wise and screw it off, You may have a long nipple or a short one, It may be a 1/2" or a 3/4 " Female on the inside of the spikket, This is why I said to take the old one to the store with so you could get the same kind :: While youer at the store, { GEt a roll of PLASTIC TAPE < some call it PLUMBERS TAPE, Now Before you put the spikket back on , you want to take the plastic tape on the piece of pipe that the spikket on the one comeing out of the wall, AFTER YOU HAVE WRAPPED THE PLASTIC TAPE ON THE PIPE THREEDS ( CLOCK WISE ) you can screw the spikket back onto the pipe . You want to tighten it preety good but not to where you will break the pipe comeing out the wall <As you are tighting it as it gets tight stop when it is faceing down , Now lets see how good a job you have done ID bet that it al;l turns out good, clos the shower curtin a little and turn on the water at the faucet check for any leaks , Now pull up the deverter on the spikket and rn water out the shower head ,check again for any water LEAKS . ( NOTE - You need to look back behind the wall for the water leaks, THERE SHOULD BE A ACCESS PANEL ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WALL < turn water on the faucet while you take another look,on the other side of the wall, WELL: YOU HAVE NONE ? THEN YOU HAVE DONE A GOOD JOB < and you should be back in bussness, and have a good shower working right >:: Good Luck AND GOD BLESS:: IF I have helped you { rate my answer below ::: F.B.E.
