Maggots are tiny fly eggs. You can find them in any home regardless of how clean you keep it. Don't despair. Cleaning frequently will keep them at bay. Be sure to clean the rugs carefully so as to get all the tiny eggs out. If you can wash them, wash them. If not, vacuum very thoroughly. Apparently there is a fly or flies in your home that liked that area and decided to lay eggs there. You may want to vacuum the whole house very well while you're at it to be sure you got all the unwanted tenants out.

The bleach will probably have killed them. I collected maggots for a class once and they died the second I put them in rubbing alcohol, I'd be surprised if they could survive bleach. Make sure you keep doors and windows shut or at least have screens on them.

It's probably nothing to be concerned with. But if the problem persists you'll have to figure out exactly where they came from. A friend of mine was actually just telling me the other day that once when her family came back from vacation there entire house was filled with flies because something had died while they were out of town. That's an extreme case though, I'm not trying to scare you :) but like I said, if it continues to be a problem, you might want to keep it in mind

Bleach will not kill them... I never tried alcohol. Hot boiling water will do the trick.
All it takes is for one nasty gross fly to get in your house and lay eggs.

Now that I think about it more, the alcohol might have just drown them. Because I was puttin them into a jar since I was collecting them for class. But I don't know, because it was like instant death, and I have no idea how quickly maggots can drown. Haha
