Friends,
One doesn't make excuses or ask sympathy.
I will be 60 years old this coming January 2009, if I live that long. I experienced brain injuries as the pedestrian victim of a hit-and-run incident, on the job 02 Feb. 2007. These left me unemployable due to muscle control issues. I am presently surviving on Workers' Comp.
I just received letters from the IRS that I owe them +- 16K for years' they have no record of me filing.
Those years I was in Iraq as a contractor, protected by the Service Members' Relief Act. I am also a USMC Vietnam combat veteran.
I am to old, for surviving long enough to pay them. (Even if they harvest my organs, which nobody would buy.)
My question is this: Can the IRS attach my Workers' Comp. or SSDI? Will I be thrown out like yesterdays' garbage, to watch my wife starve?
Thank you.
