How do I balance a Hampton Bay ceiling fan. It makes a clicking noise, that stops if I steady the unit.

I found that leveling mine helps to get rid of that click. Try to measure from the ceiling to the blades to see if the distance is equal. There are those weights that came with it too that are supposed to help balance it, they attach to the fan blades.

Most fans come with a balancing kit and you can buy a new or spare kit in the fan aisle. You attach a clip to a blade and check to see if you made it better or wosr. Keep miving the clip until you get the least amount of wobble and then add a lead weight from the kit. Sometimes its on the top front edge and sometimes the top back edge but you never add the weight on the side that shows.
