I have a Winbook laptop with Windows 2000 OS that is connected to my PC router via a card. Last March when I was online I received a popup from something called System Defender saying I had a virus and to download this software to dispose of it. Evidently System Defender is not what it appeared to be and it wrecked havoc with my laptop. I bought Spy Sweeper with Anti Virus to clean up my lap top but I keep getting a blue and yellow screen warning me I have a virus infection. I have also lost my internet connection. The blue and yellow window goes away but I'm still getting a popup in the lower right corner telling me a virus has been detected. Can someone please help me?

Try to download the free version of Antivir by Avira.

If you can obtain an internet connection that is.

Without a connection, you may need to recover the computer to get rid of the virus.

If you do a recovery, be sure to get a good, well known and reliable anti virus program, I've used antivir for about a year now and have never gotten infected. It updates everyday, and scans more processes and much faster than McAfee or Norton.
