I recently received a lien due to an unpaid credit card. I have tried to get in touch with them to work out a solution.A couple of question. Will they take less $$ then they were awarded? The reason is my daughter is going to put a down payment on a townhouse for me. Their names will be on it( so they can avoid probate, when I die) my name will be on the deed,as I will be paying the mortgage.. Can they still attach the property with all our names on it? Thank you!

Was it a lien or a default judgement? Most cc companys will obtain a judgement and then go after your wages and bank accounts . What did your paperwork say? The time to work out a payment with them was before it went to court. Now they have little incintive to take less than what they were awarded Go back and look at your paper work you would have received a notice about the debt also you would have gotten a lot of calls prior to this. Give us a little more information please

Sorry, it was a default judgement, yes I agree I should have taken care of this one before it went to court.. if I knew it was going to court. What is the difference between a lien and a judgement? I know they can attach my wages, but I work for 2.63 an hour(bartender) so there isn't a check>being a judgement is there some room for me to work out a payment plan? Thank you again>

You can try to but from what I hear people say it is very hard to work out a payment plan because the cc company now with a judgement can pretty much take what they want. Now how old is the debt? Did you receive any notice of a court date? What state are you in? A judgement gives them the right to garnish your wages or attach your bank account. A lien is placed on property. I am no expert and I don't want to tell you anything wrong.Maybe our debt experts on here can help you with these questions
