I've replaced the thermostat but my old one was so dated I couldn't see any significant number settings e.g. anticipator setting. What's that?

Even with more details I may be less help that the instructions that came with it. Usually go with the factory default for the anticipation setting. What terminal markings do you have a the furnace and thermostat?
