Yes, your original lease is still valid until the end of the one year term. The landlord can threaten all they want but they can't evict you on this basis. However I suggest that you start looking for a new place to live when your lease is up, since it sounds like this landlord could make things miserable for you in the future.

They can't kick you out as long as you have a copy of the lease. Even if the property were sold, existing leases need to be honored. However, I don't see a problem with signing a new lease as long as the terms are not changed. Maybe you can get an extended term. Did they explain WHY they want you to sign a new lease?

Also, remember, if you fight them, while they maynot be able to evict you know, they can refuse to renew in October.

In the old one we could have a cat new one we need to get rid of the cat, no use of a grill that I use all the time plus my mom and dad got it for me as a christmas present and there was a few other things also I didn't like on there

Hello dude:

Don't sign, and start looking for a new place.

I agree with excon, then. They can't force you to sign nor can they even force you to get rid of the cat or stop using the grill. But they can choose not to renew. So expect to move in October. You can talk to them and tell them that you do not like the new provisions of the lease so you plan on not renewing. Tell them you are willing to move as soon as you find a new place and will give them sufficient notice, if they waive any penalities for moving early, If they agree, get it in writing.
