View Full Version : Thermostat wiring hunter 4 wire

I need help wiring a 4 wire system red green blue and white. I am trying to wire a hunter thermostat and have a forced gas furnace/ac unit. I put red to rh with a jumper from rh to rc and green to g and white to w and blue to Y1. It will not work. Please help any info would be appreciated. It is getting hot and I need to get the air to come on. Thanks

Did you write down where the old wires came off the old thermostat terminals? If so follow the install manual that came with your new thermostat.

With 4 wires, you can figure it out. I recommend turning of the furnace between each trial.
Connect only two wires at a time and figure out what turns on:
1. Fan
2. Heat followed by Fan within a few minutes
3. Just the outside AC unit
4. Nothing

RED GRN BLU WHT
0 0 1 1 ?
0 1 1 0 ?
1 1 0 0 ?
1 0 1 0 ?
1 0 0 1 ?

So fill in the table with the proper number 1-4 and we'll figure it out. If nothing comes on, then there is a problem with the transformer or small fuse in the furnace.

Its probably the thermostat,, after 15 years I have yet to run across a hunter tstat that was worth the space it takes up in the garbage can
