System is serviced and maintained by myself and has operated great until two weeks ago. The evaporator iced over and gauges indicated low Freon (leakey Schrader valve). Installed new valve core and charged to a sub-cooling of 12. System ran great for a week and quite cooling. Now, the suction side drops very low and the high side stays about the same 153psi. This seems to indicate a bad TXV.

Contact a qualified individual with a certificate from the EPA to work on R-22. It is the law.

Yeppers,, you probably have gotten air in the lines and entire system, you need a qualified tech that has the knowledge and equipment to check out and fix it right,you need a special tool to replace Schrader valve without losing r-22 and doing it without getting air/moisture into system,, sometimes doing it yourself doesn`t always save you $$$

(I am EPA CERIFIED) Great since you took the test then you are a professional and you will know what to do. NO ONE that passes the test would ask this kind of question because you already know the answer.

Now if you would send me a private message with a copy of your EPA certification or your email and I will contact you and give you a email address to send your certification to. Once I get a copy the cert I will be glad to discuss this issue. This will prove who you really are and that you are certified to discuss this issue.

I am not in the habit if discussing this kind of item on this board. To many homeowners can get themselves hurt playing around with high pressure refrigerant lines.
