I have never had a dog that turned down hand fed chicken - when my dog was very sick, on pain pills (also had displasia) - no direct knowledge of tick bites - the Vet gave him a shot to help his appetite along. It's so long ago I no longer recall what it was. Have you asked the Vet? If he's getting weak they will have to put him on IV's.
Are you making sure he is drinking water or licking ice cubes so he doesn't get dehydrated?
When one of my dogs had torsion bloat, surgery, was in the Vet hospital for more than a week and wouldn't eat I did a version of dog "Meals on Wheels" and went there twice a day - took me over an hour to get him to eat SOMETHING but he wouldn't eat on his own and couldn't come home until he did.
