Oh Stringer, the loss of a loved one is always painful, and it's hard to accept. Honey, remember always who she was, to you, to everyone who knew her. She obviously made her mark in this world, and people are better for having known her. I'm so sorry for your loss, and so happy that she can finally have peace, I hope you understand what I mean by that. Big hugs Stringer, my heart goes out to you.

Hey Alty, how did the hair appointment go??

Great, I have sexy hair, I love it! :)

jrebel7
Jun 3, 2008, 11:41 PM
Did you get it layered??

Alty
Jun 3, 2008, 11:43 PM
Yup, and thinned out, I have super thick hair, it's crazy thick. My hairdresser is great, it's exactly what I wanted, and still pretty long. It feels so much lighter and healthier.

How are you Rebbie?

Your hair is gorgeous anyway and a new haircut that is right feels so great.
I'm going on to bed for now but enjoy your new haircut and I will touch base later!!

Good night and Sweet Dreams to all!

Dear Stringer,

My deepest sympathy to you and those of her family left behind.

When I lost my aunt and step-dad, it felt as if the world would never be the same, but I also knew that they were in a better place, with no more pain and earthly worries. And, I truly feel that those we loved will never leave us.. they will always be there when we least expect it. Please don't think this strange, but I do feel them when I'm down and need someone - they are the ones that are always there - they truly communicate with me and comfort me. And, that, my dear is what is making me look forward to 'being there' when my time comes, to be with my grandson without the physical limitations of age or illness.

Don't be surprised if and when you feel those cheeks of yours being held or stroked. I sincerely believe that it will happen and that you will keep your fond memories forever. When you miss her, light a candle and she will be there. She loves you still - that I am sure of, so let her in your heart and she will ease the pain of that empty space.

Lots of love and warm hugs dear.

Thanks everyone, especially Start, Rebbie, Joe and Chery.

Rose was her name.

I just received a call from her sister who wanted to reminisce about her many memories. She said the thing she would miss the most was; every time she would gossip about someone Rose would kiddingly slap her on the shoulder and say. "Mary, remember what mom taught us, if you can't say something nice about someone....."

Then she cried, it is so hard, I didn't have the right words...

Hey there Stringer, you have been on my heart and mind. I am glad you posted again today. Don't worry about not having the right words... you were there for Rose's sister at a time she really needed someone. I have gone through some really traumatic things in my life and have found that people stay away because they don't know what to say or they are afraid of saying the wrong things... that hurts so much... so you being there just to listen to her was so important. I know that ministered to her needs at that moment. You are a special person! Loss is never easy but having someone to share your pain with and relive fun memories with helps to mend the brokenness in our spirits. You were a blessing to Rose and now to Rose's sister. We are all thinking of you and Rose's family and pray God eases the pain. Time will help but we need comfort in the midst of our extreme pain and only God can give that. Realize that even in your pain, you are blessing others, not just Rose's family but all who read your posts here.

There once was a pirate who had a peg leg, a hook on his left hand, and a patch on his left eye. One day this pirate walked into a pub and sat down at the table beside a cabin boy. The cabin boy looks at him and said, "Hey mate, what happened to your leg, sir?" The pirate looked at him and said "AYE, I was leaning over to clean the side of me boat when I FELL into the water and a shark tore it off!" The cabin boy took a sip of his drink and looked back at the pirate's gleaming silver hook and said "Gee sir that sounds terrible, but what I would really like to know is what happened to yer hand?" The Pirate looked at him and looked back at his mug of ale and said," Aye, I was boarding another ship when some scaly landlubber cut it off with a razor sharp blade!"

Then the cabin boy looked at the pirates eye patch and asked, "Excuse me sir, but just one more question, what happened to your eye, I must know, oh please tell me?" The Pirate look kind of annoyed but answered anyway, he said, "It happened a long time ago when a seagull pooped in me eye and I tried to rub it out with me hook!"

I don't do windows because...

I love birds and
Don't want one to run into a clean window
And get hurt.

I don't wax floors because...
I am terrified a guest will slip and get hurt

I don't mind the dust bunnies because...
They are very good company,
I have named most of them,
And they agree with everything I say.

I don't disturb cobwebs because .
I want every creature to have a home of their own.

I don't Spring Clean because .
I love all the seasons
And don't want the others to get jealous

I don't pull weeds
In the garden because..

In God's way,

I don't put things away because .
My husband
Will never be able to find them again.

I don't do gourmet meals
When I entertain because .
I don't want my guests to
Stress out over what to make when
They invite me over for dinner.

I don't iron because...

Hiya Stringer! Things are going okey dokey around here ;) The roof won't get replace until the end of next month (or sometime around that), but the point is: it is getting replaced... right? Lol

I have had company for the last couple of days... and it made me so grateful for Colton. He is such a good and big and respectful boy... and I am VERY lucky to have such a great kid. We had two boys (2.5 and 4.5) and their mom here destroying my little abode! But it is a cleared and peaceful again, and I get my puter time after work.. woo hooo... ahhhhh, my medicine ;)

We are shopping for redecorating and painting now. I am heavily leaning towards painting and/or staining the concrete... cheapest and very popular right now, also good for resale :)

So... what's up with you and Marta? Still having your evening walks? Any good trips coming up? Do tell :)

EDIT:: Hey Bear!!

EDIT: Chery, you are never consider crazy!! How ya feeling today?

Thanks and bless you dear.

When I'm with you guys (my cyber-family) I feel perfectly at home and warm. I noticed that we also have the same tastes, i.e. coffee (started drinking it again after 20 years - and like different flavors), spam, and fish, and chili and beans (don't we Stringer?).. I have to say though, I never could get into grits - cream of wheat is more my style - with cinamon and sugar.

Been a bit stormy here lately and the electricity went off a few times - I felt as if my right arm was cut off when I couldn't get on the site.. Then it took even longer for my pay TV site to get on again.. good thing I recorded a few progs before so that I had something to watch. I thought I'd check out a program called 'Judge John Deed' on BBC - guess what.. it was absolutely SUPER! Now I'm addicted to this and 'Spooks' and wish they would come on every day... Becoming a couch potato at my age, and having a ball - since I can't sleep nights (average of 1 1/2 hours a day only) I have to fill the time with something. I guess the older I get, the less sleep I need - strange. The days are OK with two groups a week, but the nights - well I've got my TV going again...

My cat has had so much stress due to the storms and I hope they settle down soon, the poor baby.

Going to be busy for a few days, so I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!

R... The way to a man's heart... stomach.

And Chery, what can I say about my Cheri'? Well I have a hanker'n for those beans and chili and baked beans with that American cheese... hmmmm. I had an Italian beef about a half hour ago with... you know beans and cheese... It is filling and I am about to close my eyes. Don't quite understand that... full stomach... eyes want to close... love you.

Bad Stringer, my motiviation is already lacking, don't need help in that area. ;) ;)

I'd love to crawl back in to bed, but the kids won't let me, and either will the mess. I need a cleaning lady, actually it would be easier to move and start from scratch. ;)

What's on your agenda today dear Stringer?

Stringer
Jun 7, 2008, 09:56 AM
Well... I think I will get an ice cold Coors, some potato chips, a good paperback thriller, go out on my patio, move the big umbrella over me and lay back on one of my chaise lounges. Then Marta wants me to take her shopping for some new clothes and shoes for her... go wonder?

And what's up with you? It's too nice out...

Alty
Jun 7, 2008, 10:09 AM
It's not that nice out over here, a bit windy, cloudy and wanting to rain. I could use some new clothes and shoes, can I come with? Let's see, if I get on the plane right now I could be there, oh, some time tomorrow? ;)

Cleaning day, and the perfect weather for it. Oh, hubby isn't feeling well either, so I have to take care of him. Big baby. ;)

I am here but only for a moment dear...

I am finally motivated to go plant "the plants". We spent another $325 on perennial plants, really beautiful ones to add to the ones we have near the brick patio. And... well, they have been in the garage for over a week and we have been watering them and well, they need planted.. SOON.

But wait what is that that I hear on the radio: "Severe T-Storms, possible tornado sighting... naw, even so, Marta won't buy any more excuses. But she may be sorry if I just get carried away with that 'nado... hee hee... Crap, I got to go now.

lol thats like 250 quid howd u manage to spend that much

I'm no "know it all" for sure, and I could be wrong, but I think at some point a little thing called guilt steps in, you know? And I got to spend some on things I wanted to have.

A new fishing rod and reel; love to fish, even though I haven't found time to do so for the last 4 years.

Some new fishing clothes; cool Indy Hat, vest, equipment belt, etc.

And,, some terrific new lures for Bass fishing...

Doesn't take much to keep me happy... at least I bought them Bear... now I need to find the time and someone like my son to go with me... rots of ruck there I'll tell you.

Hey starty pants... haven't seen you in days! How's life? Kids? You know, all the good crap, lol.

I really don't want to clean anything today... I just want to be lazy! This is Colton's first day back to school (Mom's Day Out :)) after their (1.5 week) summer break, lol. It seems like forever since he went to school.

Alty
Jun 10, 2008, 07:35 AM
Sydney has one week left, Jared has a little over two weeks, then it's summer break for 2 months. Lots of things planned, the zoo, the park, the museum, crafts and water play, I can't wait. Next year they'll both be in school full time, time for mommy to go back to work. I'll miss them. :(

We are planning a trip to New Orleans Zoo in a few weeks... I think Colton and "the boys" will love it. I am having a great time getting to do all the kiddy stuff now. He is getting old enough to really enjoy and show his excitement, and seeing that makes my day so much brighter... even though it stresses me at the same time, lol. (It's hard keeping up with those three :)

Alty
Jun 10, 2008, 08:13 AM
Kids, they keep you on your toes, got to love it. :)

I love being able to do the kiddie things again, kids give you an excuse to act like a kid, and no one can get mad at you because you are just being a good mom. Works well for me. :)

Hi all, hope you are looking forward to a good weekend.

Good to 'see' you again, Captain.

Going to a B-day party Saturday - and my ex will also be there - looking forward to his stupid face - goes off like water on a duck for me.

I got Alexander's toys assembled and can't wait till he runs from bike, to trike, to rocking horse on Sunday. Will take pictures and share them with you.

Been busy on relationships section, but will try and find time to chat with you all again on Monday.

Have a super Weekend!

I'm okay, the weather is still sucky here, it's windy and not at all pleasant,
But hey, it's not "officially" summer yet, so can't complain.

Sydney (my 5 year old) has two days left of school, she's going to be a kindergarten
Graduate come Tuesday. :)

Jared has 9 days left, he's not happy that his sister gets more time than him. He'll be in grade 4 next year. They're growing up too fast, it's sad.

My exciting plans this weekend, lawn work, house cleaning, lawn work, cleaning,
Oh and more lawn work. I also get to assemble our new BBQ and our new
Moveable fire pit, YAHOOOO! ;)

albear
Jun 13, 2008, 05:39 PM

Hey Bear, I just had a weird thought. One day, when you're my age,
Or at least in your thirties, my kids will be close to your age, they'll
Probably come on to this site to ask questions, and you'll be the one to give them advice. :)

Okay, let's set some ground rules. Sex is bad, it's no fun at all, in fact
It can make you go blind, unless you are married. Also, drugs, they just
Say that drugs are fun, they aren't, they can make you go blind too, even if
You're married. Um, what else. Oh, you, finish school, if you don't you could
Go blind, or your mother could smack you silly. Hmmm, did I miss anything?
Write this down, you might forget in 12 years or so. :);)

albear
Jun 13, 2008, 06:01 PM
Lol I'm not sure weather your insulting me here or not lol
Talking about my 30's lol they're way off, too far in fact to think about
So this topic 'when you're my age' should never be raised lol
Also are you saying that when I'm that old your going to say to your kids 'go bug this guy' because that's kind of mean,
Also I doubt I'm going to be here in 12 years or so, but if by some 'coincidence' I get alty junior 1 and 2 asking me for help ill be sure to tell them that
Okies :)

If I take the bunny's then it's a parade, the kids, dogs and hubby, merely a
Public nuisance.;)

I always pick up after my dogs though, unlike a parade where the horses just
Do their thing and walk away. Peeeeuwwwww. ;):)

Thank you R and Start that was very nice, thanks again girls.

They had a small get together for... ME... (right... "me") last night on our patio; Marta, sis-in-law, her friend and my daughter; Michelle. We cooked out, drank and then sat and watched the wood fire burn in the fire pit until 1:30 am in the morning. My son Bryan and his family were in Iowa for a baseball tournament for Johnathan my grandson... a pretty good baseball player at 12.

So, oh yeah, my daughter got me one of those outdoor temperature "clocks" that you hang on the wall. And sis-in -law got me one of the nice 6 bottle wine cooler machines... cool stuff.

Jun 17, 2008, 06:13 PM
Not at all Tuscany, I have different views and thoughts about it. You do not have to worry about that Tuscany. I stand up strong about my views but I do understand that my view is not the only one.

Stringer
Jun 17, 2008, 09:17 PM
Joe I am sorry to hear that.

I can only relate with my own experiences. As you know I am much older than you and in my work/business life I have changed jobs, gotten laid off, and even fired once. I agree with your thinking, if it happens a positive attitude does help. It seems that each time this happened I got a better job, and learned a lot in the process.

If you remember, I mentioned before that I had two other companies in the past and both failed after a few years for one reason or another. I learned from those failures.

I hope that the layoff doesn't happen to you. And I will say a prayer for you. But if it does, start immediately looking for what YOU want to do, I know you will find something even better for you and your family, I know you and I know what kind of man you are.

Best of luck in whatever happens,

Stringer

JoeCanada76
Jun 18, 2008, 06:26 PM
I would love to make a move to a new area, it is just that my wife is not so keen. She knows there are pros and cons to everything but many people are afraid of change. Including me to a certain point. At the same time I know that by eventually moving would also create something new and possibly better, but you do not know until it happens right? I can just get up and leave without any communication but I honestly feel that whether I am one of the ones getting laid off or not, that I need to seriesly think about doing something different and as you put it something that I want to do. To do this though I think a move is necessary as well.

What do you think?

Stringer
Jun 18, 2008, 07:26 PM
A person much smarter than me once said:

"If you find something that you love to do, you will never 'work' another day in your life."

They are many, many considerations Joe and no one can tell you what is best for you, including me. However I can give you my opinion/s. And I mix them with life stories, for example my own;

I always wanted to be my own boss... always for as long as I could remember. I would talk to as many people as possible that were successful, happy and had turned that success into money, money for their security and the security of their family. And I learned, absorbed as much as I could about things, people, nature of things, etc.

I learned from older people, people who have "lived" the life they wanted to. And that life didn't always mean lots of money either. They seemed to understand what I was looking for... and do you know what it was? Several things; true happiness, less stress (from everything including monetary stress), financial security, respect from those whom I wanted their respect, and much more.

Can you imagine having a career or job where you couldn't wait to just put your feet on the floor each morning and get started, a challenge to prove what you are capable of?

There is much more Joe, much more. But human nature says that the only real thing that constitutes and causes real change is: FEAR.

Fear of losing something, fear of getting something you don't want, fear that something will cause... change... That is the motivator for most people. But there are some out there Joe that have something special, something inside that says: "I cannot go on with my life like this for years on end and then simply retire and someday pass." That 'something" is different for each of these types of people. It could be any of the things I mentioned above or all of them, whatever...they are driven not to just exist and completely depend on others. the only security these people have is themselves and that can be very scary to the other masses of people.

I had two other companies that lasted 2-3 years each and they both failed for one reason of another as I mentioned before. But DAMN IT, I knew I had learned enough to be successful and it took years (you have to start somewhere) of this "learning" and all of it wasn't at the university.

Change is very scary and people make it sometimes without thought to the dangers involved and they should consider everything.

But Joe...what would be so bad about getting laid off? This would force change an dI know that you would capitalize on the opportunity. Remember the Greek myth about the destroyed city? "and out of the damage and ruin raised the Phoenix and life stated anew... "

Believe me when I say, there is a whole different world out there Joe...

Only you can make any decisions that are about your life and your families...

I really enjoy helping my friends, especially the younger ones in maybe pointing a way or offering some instructions. But I don't have all the answers, because each situation is different.

I would not mind talking more on this subject.

Nice tribute to George, Stringer! He had always been one of my very faves. I've got an entire thing memorized since I was really young that he used to do. I think it was called, things you'll never hear anyone say ever again. Something like that. "Hand me that piano"... "Please saw my legs off"... "Do what you want to the girl, but leave me alone"... and then there's the long one that I memorized that starts with... "eye eye, with a two two two... three four five... down her mother, we're all home now... and it goes on from there. Funny man!
