I was wondering how soon after a miscarriage can I get pregnant, and what are my chances? I heard that you are more fertile the first three cycles after a miscarrige. I miscarried 2 weeks ago. I was 6 weeks pregnant when I miscarried. It is very difficult to handle, we were so excited.:(

I know your pain; I am so sorry you have to go through this. I had a miscarriage around this time last year as well at about 6 weeks. I did not have to have a D&C so my doctor told me it would be okay to wait until I had another period and then I could start trying again. If you had a D&C, usually doctors recommend that you wait at least 3 months before trying again. You can actually conceive before you have another period but it's harder to calculate when you will ovulate. I wouldn't recommend doing that though; your body and mind needs time to heal. My advice is to wait until you have another period and then start trying again. Remember to start your prenatals and folic acid supplements!! Good luck to you and remember that having a miscarriage is a normal occurrence for most women... just think, you have a little angel baby watching over you now.

Thanks for the kind words. I had to have a D&C, it was a little painful. My husband & I just don't understand, we did everything right? My doctor told me as soon as I felt up to it I could start trying to get pregnant again. He said I should cycle in about 4 weeks, but I heard I could get pregnant before I start my period?

Your welcome. The miscarriage has nothing to do with whether your and your husband did something wrong. It's not your fault at all... it's natures way of doing things. Yes, it's possible to get pregnant before you even start your period but it's not recommended. Your body needs time to heal... especially after a d&c.
