Hi all,

I hope someone can help me out here.

I am a South African have just been approved for LPR and awaiting the issuance of my Green Card in my home country. I have waiting for 19 years to emmigrate to the usa (I was on an initial family based petition which my parents left on in 2001 - I was over 21 by the time the application was approved and "aged out" )

I have been patiently waiting after my second application and have since got engaged to a South African. Now I have a dilemma, we cannot get married yet as that would mean I change to another family based category and move FURTHER down the list.

My plan is to go the USA as a LPR my fiancé is to go on a B2 we will marry there, we will change his status to a F1 (student visa) and then we will marry and I will file an I130 for him. He will then study until his priority date becomes current and I will support him financially until that time.

Has anyone out there done this at all? I am scared because I have already been separated from my parents and brother for the last 7 years, I don't want to gain them and then get separated from my fiancé.

HELP!

For LPR, to petition a spouse takes about 5-6 years.
If you want to get married in US, make sure your fiancé maintains his status until his visa number becomes available.
