I have a 13 week old Catahoula puppy. She's a patched catahoula. However, she has lots and lots of tiny little spots. My husband and I have noticed that her little spots show up a lot more when she gets nervous or scared. Is that normal?

My husband was at WalMart one day, and some people were giving puppies away. They said that the mother dog was a lab and they don't know what the father dog was. I'm guessing he was just a stray or something.

Anyway, I was just wondering if the spots showing up more when she's scared or nervous is normal.

Thanks

I'm confused. Is the puppy with the spots related at all to your husband's visit to WalMart? Because if the mother was a lab, and the father unknown, I'm wondering why you think the pup is a catahoula.

I'm not familiar with Catahoulas first hand, so don't know what the coat is like. I assume they are a single-coated breed like most hounds. If the spots are on the skin, it could be that you see them more when she is nervous because her hair stands on end.
(BTW, if you make a big enough scene with the manager at Wal-Mart, they will often run the dog peddlers off just to get you to shut up) This of course, followed up with a call to the humane society and local law enforcement--they are usually breaking some sort of local ordinance. Get their license # before you start causing chaos.
