To break it down, about a year ago I started take Minocycline (sp?) for adult acne. Shortly after that I got my first yeast infection ever. Not long after that I stopped taking it to avoid future yeast infections as that is a common side affect. A few months later I started taking Ortho-tri lo (birth control). I took birth control as a teenager and never had any reaction to it. A few months after I started taking Ortho-Tri I got married (as a virgin). My yeast infections have not stopped since that first time after taking the acne med. At least once a month if not more I get a yeast infection and each time it gets more severe. It started with just the normal itching... later came the discharge and itching... Over time my skin around the vaginal area became more irritated to the point my skin cracks and bleeds. As time went on it only got worse and I now get rashes and cracked skin around my rectum. I am immuned to Diflucan now and have had to use tercanazole (suppository) to get rid of it. I know its only a matter of time before I become immune to that. My husband has been tested and come up clean... We have tried having sex with and without condoms. If we do not use condoms I experience severe burning inside. I have tried the Yeast Cleanse by Solaray which seemed to help for about a month and a half which is about the longest break I have had in the past year. I also take Acidophelus (sp?) daily and am currently taking Ampicillin for the vaginal irritation (can't remember what my dr called it but its basically strep of the vaginal area). I have been on the antibiotic for 7 of the 10 days with no relief or noticeable curing. I was also given a cream that I can't recall the name of right now that is supposed to help that I only use at night but that is not helping either. I'm at the end of my rope, have shed many a frustrated tear and don't know where to turn next. My 1 year anniversary is coming up in a few days and I can't even be intimate with my husband cause of my infections. I welcome suggestions. I recently started wondering if maybe I got off the birth control if that would help but what other option I could use cause I DO NOT want to get pregnant right now. Help please!!

The ACIDOPHILUS is important.
Try organic cranberry juice, lots of water and eat unsweetened yogurt
Also get your PH balanced. Lesson 18 - Acid - Alkaline Balance (http://www.naturalhealthschool.com/acid-alkaline.html)

Ugh, I too had months and months of chronic yeast infections. It sucks and is hard on a relationship because you feel like a "broken" woman (at least that's how I felt).

Here are the two things that I would recommend. 1. Don't know anything about your helth, but get your Dr to test you for diabetes. 2. Totally avoid excessive sugars the week before your period.

I did both - came back without diabetes, so I did the sugar elimination thing and that's the only thing that helped. Last night I had a big ole homemade cinnamon roll and this morning I was itching like mad, so I definitely see a connection with my body just not being able to handle the excess sugar.
