I am trying to convert a 50 amp RV extension cord ,so that I can use it off a generator { the generator has regular 110 outlets and a lock plug 110 outlet, no 220v outlets.] for 110 v house hold outlets on the female end of the extension cord.. This would be my emergency power for hurricane season. I would then run extension cords from this generator plug [ the one I want to make from the 50 a RV extension wire , plugged into the generator ], to various items I am using, ie: my refrigerator, a small window a/c unit, TV. Nothing over 15 amps. Can both hot wires from the 50 a RV plug be run together, pigtailed into one wire, and the ground and neutral left as be , to hook up my 110 v household outlets , to run 3 or four small items? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Save yourself the time and aggravation and go to an electrical supply company and get a UL listed cord.

Any modification you make to the cable will void the certification of that cable.

Thanks Don,
I no longer use the 50 amp RV extension cord, I want to use it ,due to its very heavy external covering, and it will be left in place in my house, year round. I will only hook up the generator, if needed, to the outside of this wire. Thanks

Get a pre-made adapter cord from an RV supply place.
