In the case of chilled water systems with primary and secondary pumping systems, the ideal place for installation of the expansion tank, I understand is in the suction header of the primary pump. How far away on the suction header of the primary chilled water pumps should the diaphragm type expansion tank be connected? Also I don't see any point in installing automatic vents in the pumproom & chiller loop except for the highest points in the system header near the AHUs i.e. wherever loops/pockets are formed (Chiller+Pumps - Ground level & AHUs higher levels). Suggestions??
