How to repair junction where lead junctions with cast iron and pinholes has developed

You can always try to use an epoxy putty to fill the pinholes (see pic.)... it comes in a tube and works pretty good at patching small holes/tears in lead pipes.

Here, want to rough the surface of the lead to be repaired using sandcloth or a cleaning brush (see pic.), apply the putty in thin layer, then work it around the edges with a wet finger tip to BLEND the edges of epoxy putty to the lead pipe. This works most of the time... temporary, but works well (I have some patches that are 5-7 years old and still going strong.

Be careful not to push to hard on the lead pipe when cleaning/prepping... could puncture lead, and that could be awful!

Anyway, if can't replace the lead pipe, try the epoxy putty. Let us know how it goes.
