It depends on whether you where in arrears or not. Is your child in school (college)? Sometimes if the child is in school, you have to continue to pay support up until he/she graduates. It also depends on whether you owe the state for taken care of the child. Where I live it's called AFDC, which is a monthly check received by the mother/father when they weren't receiving child support.
