When my son turned 18, child support was not stopped. First, who had to stop it? And secondly can I get reimbursed since this went on for a year.

It depends on whether you where in arrears or not. Is your child in school (college)? Sometimes if the child is in school, you have to continue to pay support up until he/she graduates. It also depends on whether you owe the state for taken care of the child. Where I live it's called AFDC, which is a monthly check received by the mother/father when they weren't receiving child support. If not, you should go to your local child support office and have the payments stopped. I hope this helps you out.

The first thing you need to do is check your support order. Generally support goes until they are 18 or have finished school. So it may not be that it should have stopped immediately following his 18th birthday. Its probably the responsibility of one of the parents to report that the child has reached the point where support ceases.

Whether you can get a refund depends on where you are. I would suggest consutling an attorney.
