I have a murray lawn mower how do you get the rivits out and what do you replace them with when changing pull cord

To just replace the cord itself you do not have to remove the rivets. You simply remove the rope. Rewind the spring (without drilling out the rivets), insert the rope, tie your knot, tie a knot at the other end and let go. It should pull the rope back inside its self.

You don't need to remove the rivets.
