I am coming out of Boston and I want to drive to a location in Connecticut and take a train into the city. I want to enter at Grand Central and not Penn Station. Where in Connecticut can I do this and I also need to know about long term parking (4 days).
My son is applying to NYU and any information about the university and the surrounding area would also be helpful.

You are going to need to use MetroNorth train, which is the commuter train that runs from New Haven directly to Grand Central.

Amtrak is the passenger train which runs the same route, but ends up at Penn Station.

Your best bet is to drive to the New Haven Station (http://as0.mta.info/mnr/stations/station_detail.cfm?key=252)on Union Street.

The link provides all the info you should need to get there, and phone number for parking details. I have been there, and parking is tight, but reasonable.

Here are the links to the MetroNorth website, along with two maps of the station stops for MetroNorth.

You may notice that Waterbury is closer for you, however, I do need to recommend that you go to New haven. Waterbury is my home town, and, needless to say,I no longer live there. Drive through on the highway, but be careful where you get off.

Don't really have any personal info on NYU, here is the link for the campus and surrounding area.

Thanks tk. Triple A was not very helpful. They are fine when it comes to their in system package deals but have very little to offer after that. Your information is extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.
