I have a question in regards to slander and libel. I work for in a office that can be political. My finacee happens to be a member of the executive board. My name and character have been terribly tossed around on the internet, in mailings, etc. my fiancé is in an elected position and I believe the reason they are using me to get to him. Trying to ruin his career because of our relationship. Meanwhile this has not been an easy thing to deal with. It there any thing I can do about this in regards to libel, slander or character defamation?
Feeling helpless in NY
Thank you for your help

First is the things being said true or not ? If what they are saying is true there is nothing you can do at all.
Also we need to look at what is being said and to what level it is costing YOU in money terms. And who is posting this, you will have to determine what person is to be held responsible

Well actually there are multiple individuals making obscene comments. They talk about a raise that I received by being under his desk and giving bl**jo*s. This is just the beginning. The comments they are making are not true and very fabricated. The have talked about "her", "his girlfriend" his personal secretary and so on. They have mentioned my actual nae many times on an online public forum
