I live in public housing in nyc and I am the only one on the lease. I let my friend move in with me a few years ago, she only started paying rent a month ago. We had a verbal agreement on the rent, she was to pay half every month. She has failed to do so, recently she as violated and disrepected me and my personal space and threatened my boyfriend with the police. I informed her that I no longer want her in my house and I have given her thirty days to vacate my apt. She said that she is not leaving until six months from now and that's that, I can no longer live with this girl and fear that if she continues to stay the situation will become physical. What options do I have that will not result in me losing my apt or someone getting hurt. Housing does not allow guest to reside on the premises without consent for an extended period. Help

1. Go talk to the housing authority manager and explain and ask them if they can force them out.

2. if they can't, you give them official notice that she is to move on a certain date and if not take her to housing court.
** be prepared to pay back any and all funds they paid you, since you were creating a illegal rental and as such had no rights to rent to them
*unless your lease allows you to sublease.
