I filed an incorrect 1099 form with one of my vendors. My system automatically put the income as nonemployee compensation and it should have been for Rent. How do I correct this information? I don't have an original 2006 1096 form or the 1099 forms and apparently the IRS won't accept the forms that are on the internet.

Go to your local IRS office and ask for a 2006 version of the Form 1099 and 1096.

I would call ahead and confirm they have the 2006 version of these forms available at that office. If not, they may have to get it from a central location, which could take a week or two.

You can also call the IRS and ask them to MAIL you these forms.
