Hello, I have kind of a silly question, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I work for a Union in the city of Chicago. Our rights and laws are very spicific. My wife (on the other hand) works at a local hospital. I can't seem to find the law that tells us about breaks during an 8 hour a day work day. I always thought you get two 15 min. breaks (paid) and a half hour lunch (not paid). The hospital that my wife works at does not give her any breaks and she gets 30 min. lunch (not paid). Is this right?

Thanks

I assume she is not covered by a union contract? In actuality, thesse things are more often covered by union or employment contracts, not be legislation.

This page answers your question: IDOL (http://www.state.il.us/agency/idol/laws/Law140.htm)

According to that act, she is getting 10 minutes more than the law requires.
