We had a 2 unpaid medical bills that went on our credit. They were from a doctor's office where on the account my husbands name was listed as the resposible party. When these accounts went to collections the collection agency reported it to both our credit reports... Is that legally correct? I was not listed as a responsible party at the doctors office, but we had another 1 other account at the same agency with both our names on it? So I'm guessing they just put the 2 accounts under his name on both our credit reports...

It is my belief that A could agree to be the responsible party on an account for his wife, B, and B could still be billed, have her credit report damaged, and be sued for the balance due.

In some States a spouse is responsible for the necessary expenses - including medical - of the other spouse so, yes, I believe it is possible (if you are in one of your States) that it's on both credit reports - it's a debt (in those States) that you both owe.
You can always file a protest with the credit reporting agency.
