Hi,
I am replacing a standard range hood with a microwave and have a problem.
I agree that it was way to low, so I took a few inches off the cabinet and it seems to be an OK height, but it is deeper than the cabinets so it sticks out and blocks the range top. I only need a few inches.
My question is instead of mounting it on the wall, can I cut out the drywall and frame an area so that the microwave is slightly recessed into the wall?
I am OK with making sure the vent and the cord, and screw holes are proper, but can a microwave sit in the wall?
Any hints or advice would be great.
Thanks
PS - One thing I forgot to mention, this is a condo and the wall that would need to hold the microwave is common to another unit...
