My child got a pill from another kid at school. Before I call the school I would like to know what I am dealing with. This is a medium sized white pill (shaped like an oblong tylenol). It has the word M13 on it. Can anyone help me?

Hi kellye1430,

Based on the description that you gave, the medication you're dealing with seems to be Diltiazem which treats high blood pressure, angina (heart pain), etc. That is very bad news indeed that your kid got this from another child at school considering how very dangerous the side effects could be for someone without these conditions. Typically however this particular pill has an imprint of M135; Is there any possibility you missed the 5? There is a pill with the imprint of M13 but it is white and round, not oblong like you described so I assume that's not it.

I hope this helps and I hope things go well for you talking to the school.

I know that we are in different countries, but if another child is giving your child pills, then, he has either taken it from his parents, in which case they need to be informed and, well it beggers belief that a parent would make drugs easily accessible, or the more sinister aspect is that this other child is trying to push drugs. You don't say how old your child is, most schools would not like the publicity and would therefore want to keep it quiet, but I would have to say that I would be reporting it to the police, there may be a wider problem at the school.

I have to say though, well done to your child for bringing it home and giving it to you, you are obviously doing a great job bringing him up :-)

Okay, here are a few I have found. Can you pinpoint which one it is by the photo? I don't want to give an answer until you have said yes or no to any of these meds. Note that none of them say M13, but have another number you may have missed.
