Hi Akae. The wonderful week doesn't look like a possibility, we've gotten a huge dump of snow, YUK.
Having said that, I hope that your weekend was wonderful and that the upcoming week is great too. :)

Hello, sitting here pondering tomorrow... Monday, don't really care for Mondays. Maybe it is just the name "Monday." I wonder... if we change the name to something else would that make this first work day of the week more pleasant? Any suggestions...
Possibly; Funday, Playday, Someday, Niceday, Takeiteasyday, Leaveearlyday, Stayinbedday..

Ok!. SPRING HAS FINALLY COME TO CHICAGO!!
Blue skies with perfectly shaped little white puffy cumulus clouds moving slowly across the sky, AND 74 yesterday and 76 degrees today. The wind was warm, tulips, dogwoods are blooming with beautiful, colorful flowers--wonderful. I worked in the yard, even went and bought a new key start lawn mower. Damn, it is so beautiful and clean... I don't even want to use it and mess it up.
Finally... I earned this spring... and damn it, I am going to enjoy it..
Alty
Apr 20, 2008, 09:01 PM
I earned spring, I really did, where is it?
I have only myself to blame, I put all the winter stuff away, I should know better by now. This weather sucks, it truly does. I don't even know how many inches of snow we got but believe you me it's allot. I think I'm going to put the Christmas tree up tomorrow, just so I can feel festive. ;)

I hope so Stringer, but I honestly thought that the last dump of snow was the last dump this year. Guess they showed me didn't they? Ha, ha, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, shame on me, sob. I hate snow!
Anyway, how are you sweet Stringer? I saw your ideas about Monday, personally I think we should just skip it all together, what do you think of that? Or it could be Thirdday, meaning the third day of the weekend. ;)

I am fine, thanks Alty. I am in my own little piece of heaven with my new key start, self propelled, mulch or bag collector, mower. It is matted black with dull gray trim and is shaped like a race car! Sorry... could be a guy thing... doesn't matter... I am in love. I put it together, shined it up, went and bought some fresh gas (can't put old gasoline in a new mower you know), and have that baby put on charge over night. Believe it or not, last Wednesday we had no grass, in the last three days it is over 5 inches high already! But I am ready, BOY... am I ready!

Right now a snow blower would get me going. I don't care what color it is or how big just as long as it can blow the snow away. Sorry, I'm still on the whole snow thing. ;)
Congrats on your new toy Stringer, are you actually going to use it or just admire it from afar? If you're anything like my hubby you'll wash it every time you use it and shine it up so it still looks new. You men are to cute. :)

I bet Colton would like this too, but it isn't a riding mower. Nope, it is a walk behind that is self propelled.
Once last spring when Marta was in Poland I bought one. (a rider mower)... it was nice, very nice. It had a roof, a wagon on the back and even a place to put your beer! But Marta talked me into taking it back even from Poland on the phone, and I did. She was right, our property isn't very big and with the large patio in the back there really isn't too much grass to cut. It would have been just another of Stringer's toys... but she thought this one was expensive and not necessary... so I listened and agreed (this time).:D

My day is going OK, just getting some house cleaning done since we're practically barricaded in, lol. We thought we had our warm weather already. It was in the upper 70's just last Fri. and then got blasted with this freak storm. We hardly ever get snow in April, and never anything like this!
My parents are in their late 60's, and are driving two separate vehicles, towing an 18' boat behind one. They usually make it home in about 4 days, but the boat is slowing them up. I don't know if they are going to get home today as expected because the snow hits almost right at the border... YUK! It's a little nerve wracking waiting to hear how they are doing, but I'm sure things will be fine.

SMILE OF THE WEEK
(contributions for this section are most welcome)
We Must Stop This Immediately!
Have you noticed that Stairs are getting steeper. Groceries are heavier. And, everything is farther away.. Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was dumbfounded to discover how long our street had become!
And, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the young ones. They speak in whispers all the time! If you ask them to speak up they just keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until they're red in the face! What do they think I am, a lip reader?
I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age. On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am. I ran into an old friend the other day and she has aged so much that she didn't even recognize me.
I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own refection... Well, REALLY NOW -- even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!
Another thing, everyone drives so fast today! You're risking life and limb if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them. All I can say is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and swerve in my rear view mirror.
Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days. Why else would they suddenly start labeling a size 10 or 12 dress as 18 or 20? Do they think no one notices that these things no longer fit around the waist, hips, thighs, and bosom?
The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank, but in reverse. Do they think I actually "believe" the number I see on that dial? HA! I would never let myself weigh that much! Just who do these people think they're fooling?
I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on -- but the telephone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed the phone books in such small type that no one could ever find a number in here!
All I can do is pass along this warning: We are under attack! Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon everyone will have to suffer these awful indignities.

Making it through another day is always a good thing, whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, man are we strong. :)

Chery, I saw this this morning and thought you may like it, it is sort of a cintinuation but mostly, just plain ole' good stuuff!
Will Rogers, who died in a plane crash with Wylie Post in 1935, was probably the greatest political sage this country has ever known. Enjoy the following:
1. Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.
2. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.
3. There are 2 theories to arguing with a
Woman... neither works.
4. Never miss a good chance to shut up.
5. Always drink upstream from the herd.
6. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
7. The most quick way to double your money is to fold
It and put it back in your pocket.
8. There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn
By reading; the few who learn by observation; the rest
Of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out
For themselves.
9. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of
That comes from bad judgment.
10. If you're riding' ahead of the herd, take a look
Back every now and then to make sure it's still there.
11. Lettin' the cat out of the bag is a whole lot
Easier'n puttin' it back.
12. After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt
So good he started roaring. He kept it up until a
Hunter came along and shot him.
The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.
ABOUT GROWING OLDER...
First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you
Stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.
Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.
Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers.
Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way.
I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't
Paved.
Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to
Go back to youth, think of Algebra.
Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything
Either dries up or leaks.
Sixth ~ I don't know how I got over the hill without
Getting to the top.
Seventh ~ One of the many things no one tells you
About aging is that it is such a nice change from
Being young.
Eighth ~ One must wait until evening to see how
Splendid the day has been.
Ninth ~ Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.
Tenth ~ Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground
With sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's
Called golf.
And finally ~ If you don't learn to laugh at trouble,
You won't have anything to laugh at when you are old.

I promise you I won't let anything drag me down, honest. I still have my sense of humor.

Starty,Sorry hun... I forgot to add the "er"! I forget some people don't know me as well as some of you do. I was only making fun of myself, ;) After all, I'm 29! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! :p

Sadly Chery, that made me laugh. Oh, but of course I was laughing at the old people, I didn't understand a word of that! ;) LOL
I fully comprehend dear.. I love a good laugh at my expense, that's why I initiate them instead of letting others get a headstart. I feel that as long as I have my sense of humor, I'm good to go - and nobody can take that away from me. Laughter just make one feel good for a while - and we all can use that at least once a day.

Oh yes! If I couldn't have a good laugh at my own expense, I don't know what else I would be laughing at! I'm all for the good endorphines, in whatever shape and form they come to me! Hehe!
It's not worthwhile if you can't find the humour somewhere right? ;)
Chery
Apr 23, 2008, 11:15 AM
So right Starbuck...
I always think there is something wrong with people who cannot laugh and just get loose now and then. Cannot imagine life without laughter or music and I appreciate the talent of people who have provided these two joys in my life.
And those endorphines - the best medicine ever - and it's free!

Stringer darling, you are always part of my favorite AMHD cyber family and I want you to know that, even if I miss a few names now and then. I hope you realize that. Besides, how can I not miss the guy who offered my grandson a job at what he does best... he still uses his cleaning cart every day helping mom around the house. It's hard to believe that a little kid his age still is interested in a toy he got 5 months ago, and it makes me feel good that I picked something that he does not put aside for newer stuff.
Last week I got him a little snowglobe on a marble stand with an angel in it, something he can keep for the rest of his life and not be shy displaying it in his room, no matter how old he gets.

Thanks my Chery, You are the best...
I guess I have a deep desire to be special in your eyes... sigh. :D
Maybe we need an "Early Warning System?" One that would sound a bell in the different time zones all at one time when we can all be on line together... think?
EDIT: BEAR... where the heck are you lately?
EDIT #2: R... What if you just have someone get up there and just pour hot tar all over the whole roof.. Miss you too hon.

I'm back home in Michigan, my cats are glad to see me, but I just spent a month with my daughter. I miss her and that litle dog of hers already.

Sure, send him on. Any thing for a sister. We women have to stick together.
He cooks and cleans, it sounds good, but he is also picky, so if I'm not here, he will keep things clean.
Alty

My hubby is not at all concerned about cleaning, if the house is clean, it's okay, if it's not that's okay too, it's frustrating. But, he makes up for it, he's a wonderful man and a great father, so I don't mind a bit of mess. He does cook sometimes, and he's not bad at it. :)

We guys try (well most of us)... it would help if the ladies would put together a list or book of exactly how we can be everything that you ever wanted.. We could check it out each time we need help... chapter and verse... imagine "a giant step for "man"kind.
But then, would you really want us all behaving like that; trying to be perfect for you? We would actually be the "Stepford Men"!! Wow, scary......!
Ha ha,

I don't know that I'd want my husband to do everything I told him to do, be a "stepford guy", that would be a turn off. Just be considerate and help out as needed.
We have been married 32 years and have worked out most of the quirks. We may not like everything about each other but we're OK with it. We know our likes and dislikes so we try to accommodate.

Stringer, hee, hee, I'm glad you liked the feather duster comment, I do try to make you laugh. :)
Homegirl, I have to agree, if he did everything he'd be perfect, perfect is boring. I'm not really upset about the lack of cleaning, but it would be nice if he helped out more, I can dream can't I?
All in all though I'd never trade any of his other traits for a cleaner house, I love him just the way he is, and he reciprocates, that's enough for both of us. :)
I'm not saying that there aren't things we wouldn't change if we could, but they're minor, like snoring, he snores, that I would change if I could, it's loud! ;) He'd probably love to change a few things about me too, I can't imagine what though. :D

Ok, I'll use it dear, you have given me a chance here for one of Stringer's night time stories (even though it is only 12:30 pm).
I was watching a talk show on TV a long time ago, I think it was on one of the PBS stations. And I have always remembered what was said by one women;
It was a 'round table" discussion about the differences between the sexes. The discussion had taken a turn toward complaining about each other and almost getting nasty. One woman complained that "he" was sometimes almost useless, a guy complained that he almost had to beg for things, etc, etc ,etc.
One woman was really upset, she complained about almost everything her husband did or didn't do..One of her most vibrant complaints was that he also snored loudly for the last 25 years! She would wake him, punch him, yell at him several times each night, she just can't take it anymore. She had demanded that he see a specialist, which he did, but he was soon snoring again. Almost all the women agreed wholeheartedly, except one...who sat there with her head down, slowly shaking her head "no."
The panelists stopped and looked at her, and ask her what was wrong? The woman, about 50 or so, raised her head with tears in her eyes and said;
I haven't slept in years, Harry snored constantly and like you I was mad. Now, I miss that sound so much... my husband passed two years ago.

Wow, that was a great story Stringer. :)
I don't get mad at the snoring, I've learned to live with it, as he's learned to live with my little quirks (and I do mean little ;) ). You are right though, I would miss the snoring if it meant he wasn't around anymore, I love the man, goodness knows I didn't marry for money, neither one of us had any when we married, so it must be love and it's definitely still there.
We've been married for 13 years this May, but we've been together for 18, almost half my life, yup, it's for love, and I wouldn't ever change that. I am one of those people that is in it for life, till death do us part, and if he doesn't stop snoring I'm going to smother him with a pillow;) (kidding, totally kidding, gosh, really, I'm kidding!)
Hee, hee, love to giggle. :)

Yep, I do, or I should say; I try to. Less stress I guess, but I do really try to see the good in people... but it is tough some times... you want to say "here, hold this.....then WHACK.........WHACK!" But knocking sense into some... is an excerise in futility.:(

Ain't that the truth. I am slowly beginning to realize that there are people who deserve my advice and sympathy and there are people who will never listen anyway so why waste my time.

This is just crazy and stupid, I know, I KNOW... this is just happening to p*ss ME off!
Anyway, ~~~~~~you guys have a ~~~great~~~ Wednesday~~~(smile-smile)...
(Sorry had to let it out somewhere--and Marta would just slap me silly haha, if I let loose like this with her... so.)
Wait, I feel better all of a sudden... Marta just said the she made some homemade fudge, hey!! Isn't life just great?? :D :D :D

Good morning you...
She makes the best fudge, chocolate with walnuts and it is not the gooey, waxy store bought type. Hers is delightfully light and kind of flaky that melts in your mouth. Too bad I can't eat fudge for breakfast... oh well... there IS "Choc-flakes cereal.
Have a great day guys...

Hi all..
Been away for a while, but having to wear a stupid opiate patch, then getting all the side-effects imaginable to include breaking out in itchy bumps from head to toe just 'T'd me off until I finally got the clinician to let me discontinue that and let me take meds that I knew worked for me again.
During this time, I remembered an old cure for itchy skin that I always took with me whenever I camped out in California, and when my daughter used to get into the wrong plants around the playing fields. Calamine lotion works OK sometimes, but I always revert back to this old 'sure thing'... ONION.
Pressing onion juice on irritated skin eases the swelling and itching.. honest - and only smells for a little while, so try it. Whether allergy or plant inflicted, this still works for me - Thank goodness.
Sorry that I cannot do anything about weather problems, but I hope that I helped with skin irritation in the future.
Till next time - love and miss you all. Just need a little more time to recover yet, but I doubt if there is a cure against dumb doctors... I'm so frustrated at mine.

Oh, my poor Chery! I hope your itches go away soon and your old meds kick back in to give you some relief... tell those stupid docs they don't know what they are doing to you, lol. You know we all have you close in our hearts, whether you are here in person or in spirit, you touch us every minute. However, I do worry when I don't see that cute little man of yours after a while ;)
Everyone else... I miss you wonderful folks :)

I have a very serious question...
Where in the heck does all my tupperware go? Or if I find a piece could you tell me where the lid is? Sheesh, this is driving me insane!!

Starty I have the same problem, that's why I don't buy the expensive stuff, I buy the stuff that is disposable. If I lose a lid no big deal, the container only cost me 50 cents anyway, that's how I deal baby, it's the only way to go. ;)

Me too Alty, I do the same but if I need it, it should be where I put it. Damn it anyway! LOL
Nice to see you by the way!:)

Hee, hee, it's not where you put it because you have kids honey, at least that's what happens here. Sigh, I just want a lid that will fit, is that too much to ask. ;)
It's nice to see you to Starty. :)
