HI ,
I am working as a J 1 exchange visitor at present ,I will have to change my status either to
1] H 1 B visa after two yrs OR
2] to J1 clinical visa...
Both these options will be before I complete two years as J1 exchange visitor.. so the question is.. do I have to pay for the taxes which I will save on now.. once I finish my two years in general or.. this rule of tax repaying does not apply to me if I change the visa status before two years and come on different visa?
Please tell me if I need to clarify more about my question .
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

It depends on the country and the applicable treaty. Different treaties handle things differently.

Yes, to give you more information we must know your citizenship, type of work for which J1 was issued, and on your 2006 return, what treaty deduction did you claim?
