I need to know the easiest way to change the oil filter on a dodge nitro with the 3.7l motor. Its hidden in front of the motor and we can't figure out an easy way to get to it. Someone said you may be able to remove the drain pan under it by removing two bolts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Call the Dodge dealer and ask them or better yet, go to a place that changes oil and watch while they service your car - then you'll know how to deal with the problem first hand and get an oil change in the bargain to boot. Can't hurt as I am sure they know how to get at the pesky filter.

Very bad location. I am thinking of taking out my battery and maybe the battery tray, and going down from the top.

You'll find most car and truck makers today are making it much more tough to get at oil filters. And, they're not spin on filters anymore!
I think they're sending out a message to DIY'ers.
