I just installed my pex homeruns to a manifold in my utility room. Some of the pex lines run by large basement windows and my utility room has a small window. Here are my questions:

1. How important is it that the pex tubing is not exposed to uv light?
2. How long can it be exposed to uv light?
3. What do I cover the pex tubing with to protect it from uv light?

Thanks
Bob

How important, well its very important since the UV will break down the strength of the pipe and cause failure. How long, depends but why take the chance it will be while you still live there. What can you use to cover the pipe, almost any opaque material such as duct tape or electrical tape. You could even use a foam pipe insulation tubes. I'd be more worried if this pipe were outside in direct sun light.
