My son is 6 months old on the 17th of this month he's in 6-9 months babygrows and very nearly grown out of them he weighs about 20lbs,he's 27 inches long [69cm]

He's been eating since about 6 or 7 weeks he was a very hungry baby he was having about 12 feeds a day I couldn't cope with the lack of sleep so I gave in and fed him he was fine after that slept all night no crying because he was hungry [[i did try hungry'er baby milk but it didn't fill him]]

The health nurse came round when he was 5 months old it was to see my eldest son but I asked her to weigh him while she was hear and he weighed 19lbs 2oz and she was shocked she told me that the average weight for his age was around 14 or 15 lbs she just said he was a BIG boy she never said he was fat but I'm starting to think it's keeping him from things like trying to lift himself up when he holds my finger's or when I put him on his belly he gets really tired quickly trying to lift his head up

I have cut his feeds down from 4 solids a day to 3 he has 5 9oz bottles a day and maybe some water [he's not to keen on it]

What do you think??

My sisters baby was 30 inches and 30 pounds at one years old.
He is a somewhat big but not fat 24 year old now and doing good.
I would think he should be okay as long as he slows down from gaining weight at the same rate he was.

Before I go on... How much did he weigh when he was born?

Babies should double their weight by 6 months and triple it by a year.

In all honesty, he is a big boy. He definitely ranges above the 50th percentile for his age. He should be weighing about 16 pounds. But, you know what, if you feed him healthy and keep his baby exercises up, he'll be just fine.

Now, did the home nurse tell you that you started feeding him too soon? Feeding that early can be detrimental to their little tummies as that tummy is not ready for food yet. It still has a bard time digesting formula. 3 months is the earliest I would start with baby food. Most doctors say a year, but in all honesty 3 or 4 months is when they are ready, not 5 weeks.

So, I wouldn't say he's fat, but on the healthy side. Just feed him healthy foods.

Yeah, it's possible you may have started giving him solids too early. Also, you say he's drinking 9oz bottles. My baby (10 mos) can only hold up to 6oz at one time and weighs 19 1/2 lbs. He's definitely above average. Also, not sure what you meant by "hungry" baby milk... don't know if that meant you added cereal to it (a lot of people do that) but that's not a good idea either because their stomachs are not ready to digest anything other than milk/formula the first 3-4 months. It's not a good idea to try to "fill him up" just to avoid having to get up through the night. This promotes eating past full. From this point on, I'd just focus on giving him healthy foods and hopefully the weight gain should level out.

He eats healthy he's on fruits and veg and babyrice, and there is a baby milk for hungryer babies, but he wasn't happy it wasn't doing its job making him full. I had to feed him yes I know it was early but I'm asingle parent and 12 feeds a day was killing me every 2 hours day and night I don't get much sleep as it is about 4 hours and them 4 hours I need so I had to feed him,I had no help what so ever [his dad didn't want him and has not seen or helped out once.] it never done me any harm being fed at 2 months [[ and if you read what I put I said 6 or 7 weeks not 5 weeks] I'm asingle parent as most people know on hear I've atodler and my youngest, my youngest was having 12 bottles aday until I started feeding him solids so imadgen what a mess I looked,no sleep, hand and eye coordination had gone, myhouse was amess, falling asleep while standing up cooking tea falling to sleep while holding and feeding myson [nearly dropped him on the floor afew times],forgetting things, not getting dressed,my mate next door was getting my shopping etc because I didn't have the energy to go, so I had no choice but to start feeding him before I ended up burning down the house or dropping him on the floor. Everyday I make fruit purée banana, apple, apricot, pear he lovs pear, and I give him fruit juice [that I've made] I make milk shakes but with his baby milk he loves banana,I started adding chicken to his dinner or tea and fish with carrots or peas or broccoli etc. I've been hoping that when he starts crawling that he'll lose it but if its holding him back from crawling or trying to what can I do

He will most likely slim down as he grows. It's not like he is fat. One of mine was always waking up hungry at night so I started giving him the baby cereal at bedtime.

Sounds as though you may have been feeding him when he was bored, not just hungry. Normal, healthy children do not eat that much, yet some mothers "think" they are hungry and feed them to quiet them. Haven't you ever had a big meal and wanted to take a nap? Babies are the same way.

They can't communicate their wants and needs other than crying, so we feed them, then begin to over feed them. Then we start having problems in the toddler ages. They start eating for comfort because that's all they have known.

When baby cries, you need to find distractions that do not include food.
