I know this is an awful subject to talk about but for the past year and a half my periods have been so irregular the longest was 3 weeks! (the doctor gave me tablets for that one to dry it up) then I was off for a week then came on again for 2 weeks. Basically I don't know when I'm going to have a period or how long its going to last. The problem is they're really thick and jet black! The doctor didn't seem worried at all and offered me the contraceptive period to regulate me but as I've been trying to get pregnant for 3 years that's not what I want to do. I've been for a scan and had many blood tests and everything was normal. Does anyone else get this?

I haven't experienced this myself but I do have some words of advice:

Make an appointment with your doctor again. Explain your concerns (does he/she know you are trying to conceive?) and insist on getting more information. Write down all of your questions so you don't forget anything while you're there.

If you're not happy with this visit and still don't feel comfortable with what's going on, find another doctor who will spend more time addressing your concerns.
