After signing a contract with a realtor in Maryland how long do they have to put your house on the market?

Hello k:
The answer won't be found in the law. It'll be found in your contract. If your contract doesn't say anything about it, then sign another agreement with a realtor will put it up for sale TODAY.

Well actually once signed it is "on the market" do you want a sign in the yard, do you want it listed on MLS
Is the realtor perhaps sending it in emails to know buyers before they put it on MLS so it does not sell though someone else yet,
Is the realtor even a MLS seller, ( not all are)
So what are you asking, you signed an agreement for them to sell your property, did your contract give specific rules on how that was to be done?

Speaking only for NYS - as soon as you sign that contract your house is legally on the market because the realtor starts the advertising, signage, personal contacts, website exposure. Just because you don't see an ad or don't have potential buyers passing through doesn't mean the realtor isn't working on it.
Do you have a problem with the realtor?

While this is technically true, it should be something that you discuss with the realtor. I am going to be moving, and have lined up the realtor to sell the house, and one of the things we discussed was how we were going to sell the place. There's a lot of variables: vacant/staged, MLS/not, etc. So, I've got a signed agreement, but we decided that the best thing is to wait until I move out before we actually list it. So, it's not a cut and dried situation.
