I have a beautiful etching in color that depicts a canal with a small sail boat (sail down) and trees on both sides. The trees on the right side of the canal are sun-lit- looks to be turning orange in the fall. The print is signed and numbered (11), but I CANNOT figure out the signature at all! I think the print is french and may have been done between the late 1800s and the early 1900s. The frame that it came in to me was in bad shape, and direcly behind the print was a 1935 newspaper (used to hold the print in place in the frame I imagine).
There are no other symbols or marks to indicate etching societies or anything else on or around the print. The signature is in cursive in pencil and looks like G or Y.. ballow or mutallow, GMnieballeu?? Sorry! If anyone knows if a site that I can post a picture of this print to, I'll do it!
Thanks for your help!:)
