View Full Version : Chair Rail Angles

My stairwell has a center wall that leads to a landing. The chair rail will drop down the wall at about a 36 degree angle. At the landing the rail will go around the 5 inch thickness of the wall and continue down the other side of the wall at the same angle. Any secrets out there on how to cut the angles so the rail will match at the corners. The rail is a 1x3 (3/4x2 1/2) and has a simple contour routed both top and bottom.
Help!

You will have to stop the railing going down at the 36 degree before the corner, go level then go around the corner, go level a short distance then start the 36 degree angle again. For best appearance I would stop the 36 degree angle at about 12" form the corner.
