View Full Version : Shower Pull Knob Replacement

I have excellent water pressure, but lately after I have adjusted the bathtub water to the right temperature and then pull the shower knob, more than half of the water is still coming out of the tub faucet instead of the shower head. Consequently the shower water pressure is minimal and it is impossible to get the right temperature. It's either too cool or too hot. Can I change the shower pull knob thingy myself or does it require a plumber?

Thanks,
Laura

Hey Laura:

Tub diverter spout may be defective at this point. Some have allen screw under spout (close to wall) to allow easy removal/replacement (many choices available at home supply stores). Some just turn off by twisting spout counterclockwise.

How old is the faucet? How many handles? Any name brand or model number by chance? I could probably get a specification sheet for your valve if I knew more... could help more then.

Tell me what you can... check the diverter itself (look with compact mirror to see if allen screw at underside of this spout)... let us know what you find... Mark
