Hi, Running XP and have a Linksys wireless router connected to cable modem.

Problem I have is when starting up laptop it doesn't always connect to wireless network (there a cross through the TV monitor icon at bottom right of screen) if I right click and repair this will solve the problem most times, (a dialogue box comes up and say's ' disabling adaptor, enabling adaptor then renews IP address). I say most as it doesn't work every time that's when I have to re-boot and try again.

I have an ITouch and this has no problems connecting to the wireless network so I presume it must be the PC...

Any suggestions would be greatly received..

Cheers

Are you starting the laptop from OFF or from STANDBY or HIBERNATE? Resuming from the latter two is often problematic.

If you have a neighbor using the same channel as you, there may be cross talk to their router and if it's locked down you may not connect directly to yours. Try changing the channel within the configuration of the linksys router. There is a Microsoft update Net0 that will stop the software from trying to auto connect with stronger signals.
Also make sure you do not have a cordless phone dock near router, this may also mess with signal.
Finally make sure you have the most current driver for the card, and update the firmware on the router. Linksys is a good home router but you may have a lemon as well, test it with a friends laptop
Good luck
