A few questions about copper and sweating...

Does the hand-held butane torches work for sweating copper (leadless solder)?
If so, any special precautions? Or is propane the best...

My job has small scope: 6 fittings on 1/2 inch.

I am not familiar with a Butane torch but Propane is what we use for sweating. Butane, propane, octane, methane are all flammable but burn a different temperatures.

Hi Alpac:

Propane or acetylene MAPPGAS setups are what you are looking for (see pic.)... AVAILABLE AT ALL HOME SUPPLY STORE.

You may also need a tubing cutter, sandcloth, acid brush, FLUX, and lead free solder.

Water pipe needs to be of type L, hottest part of flame is 1/4" from tip of blue flame, heat fittings so that solder is PULLED into the joint you are soldering, etc.

Let us know if need more info. Good luck
