What kind of computer graphics? Simple images, or something complex like vector graphics?

For simple things a free program called gimp or a paid program called Paint Shop Pro are good they can be found by a simple Google search. For more complex things, you can get into the adobe suites etc but you get quite professionalized.

Hope this helps,
Louis.

I agree with the above answer and just wanted to add the quote below which is from the following site Computer graphics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_graphics) which might give you more of an idea as to how to answer the question posted above.

Computer graphics is a sub-field of computer science (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_science) and is concerned with digitally synthesizing and manipulating visual content. Although the term often refers to three-dimensional computer graphics, it also encompasses two-dimensional graphics and image processing. Computer graphics is often differentiated from the field of visualization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visualization_%28graphic%29), although the two have many similarities.
A broad classification of major subfields in computer graphics might be:

Geometry: studies ways to represent and process surfaces
Animation: studies with ways to represent and manipulate motion
Rendering: studies algorithms to reproduce light transport
Imaging: studies image acquisition or image editing
