Morning all! :)

Ahhh... relaxing weekends... I could use a few more of those! I did absolutely nothing yesterday except drink coffee, make cranberry banana bread, and watch TV. It was great. :)

I'm feeling so good this morning that coffee is on the house! Today's brew: Southern Pecan

Synnen
Mar 31, 2008, 07:31 AM
I'm having Strawberries 'n' cream coffee today.

Oh, and we have blizzard like conditions outside here right now. And I still have to go to work. Bleh.

HistorianChick
Mar 31, 2008, 07:33 AM
Bleh, is right! Yuck! Blizzard conditions? Urgh...

I got that coffee catalog in the mail Saturday! Can't wait to place an order! Packer Perck, Highland Grog... here I come! :)

Forgot to look at this until Starty reminded me... that is a great deal! I have that little wonder and it works like a charm :) Its my reserve here at work... in case I get in dire, desperate straights ;) Which, as you all know, I DO!

Mar 31, 2008, 07:53 AM
:)

HC, how was your bread?
I made my first four loaves of white yummy bread, now I am off to use wheat and seeds in the next batch... I also tried a new carrot cake recipe, IT WAS A HIT! Listening to my ole TRAIN cd, I love it so gooooood (drops of jupiter)
"Let it roll into me... (start, stop singing... lol)

HistorianChick
Mar 31, 2008, 07:55 AM
LOL! Love it, Starty! Drops of Jupiter... :)

My bread was yummy! I got a craving for banana bread and threw in the cranberries for giggles. Nothing better than warm banana bread, Cinnnamon Toast coffee, pjs, and The Mummy! :)

I haven't made white bread in a long time... may have to throw some in the bread machine tonight. :) (yes, I can make it from scratch too, but I don't have the time!)

Meeting... wish me luck! :)

startover22
Mar 31, 2008, 07:57 AM
Good luck cranberry head, I meant! LOL :)
I think it sounds wonderful... you should make more tonight!

HistorianChick
Mar 31, 2008, 09:13 AM
I think I may! :) although, may throw in blueberries instead... mmm... I'm in a baking mood :)

startover22
Mar 31, 2008, 09:24 AM
Me too, I got the home made bread rising... (bread machine?? ) I may need one of those... but it sure is fun making it this way!
Blueberries, yes, I have a freezer full of black berries ready for baking! I should make some muffins or something... (I add extra sugar) :) :) :)
Hope you had a good meeting! See you in a bit!

HistorianChick
Mar 31, 2008, 09:27 AM
Done with the meeting... it actually went well today... my plans for global domination are playing out just as I have foreseen... :D

Yeah, I love making bread from scratch... But bread machines are divine. Throw everything in, close the cover, push a button, and POOF! Bread!

Well, maybe not exactly "POOF", but soon :)

startover22
Mar 31, 2008, 09:57 AM
LOL, I will ask for one for Mother's Day, or else I will need to get 57 thousand bread pans to please everyone with the different kinds I can make.
I heard that (while I am sipping my vanilla creamered coffee) I heard that theyonly make one loaf, I have a family of 6! They all love it so I wonder if that would be a good choice for me, two loaves went in 3 minutes flat... sooooooo

HistorianChick
Mar 31, 2008, 10:00 AM
Hmm... yes, they do only make one loaf at a time, mine goes very quickly - especially if I have someone for dinner (*hint *hint, Sneezy, sweet! ;)). I'm not sure about a bigger one... They may make one that makes a Mega loaf - you never know.

Its definitely worth looking into - saves time and still tastes yummy...

startover22
Mar 31, 2008, 10:01 AM
Nah, I will stick with making four loaves at a time! But thanks, plus the kids love to help and play with the left over flour on the counter...
Off to do the other bathroom, see you soon! (unless I drown in the toilet)

HistorianChick
Mar 31, 2008, 10:03 AM
Don't drown in the toilet! That would be sad. And rather disturbing... lol... Wow... reminds me of high school for some reason... :D

HChicky, have you ever heard of Beth Heart? She is good too!

Shall we start a collection fund for bail money now? ;)

My wife has a friend who comes up for a week about once a year... all she has to do is tell me "sheila is coming up" and I know exactly what that means...

I might get a call from jail, I might get a call for a sober ride home at 3am, I might get a call from vegas... its just understood that what happens with sheila, well, it just doesn't get talked about too much. Outside of a guy dropping off my wife's panties the next day, its pretty fair game. The last time she came my wife came in and tried to put her pajama pants over her head as a shirt. Priceless.

So all we need are marti gras beads, a camera, and your deck location hon? Oh, and the bail money I mentioned...

Synnen
Mar 31, 2008, 11:59 AM
Well, my best friend is a GUY... so you might not get QUITE the shots you want.

Sneezy Darling... you ever find your new bachelor pad? Your elusive Hitch-esque loft, high above Atlanta...

Alty... dear heart, how are your eyes? Getting worried about you...

HistorianChick
Apr 1, 2008, 08:22 AM
Morning everyone...

Been quite a day already... Found out a high school friend of mine was killed in a car accident on Sunday evening on her way home from work...

I've been reminded of the frailty of life so much these past few days... makes me want to hold my friends and family closer and not let a moment slip by unaccounted for.

Give extra hugs to the ones you love today, I know I am.

Synnen
Apr 1, 2008, 08:26 AM

ISneezeFunny
Apr 1, 2008, 09:25 AM
No... sadly. Although, I do have it narrowed down to a few... I'm just waiting until next week until all of the availabilities come open.

Anyway, running another 11 hour assay. I'll be in and out today.

Feel better hc. Go find yourself the nearest godiva and get yourself a nice little treat :)

HistorianChick
Apr 1, 2008, 09:28 AM
That's a great idea. I'll do just that.

I'm blowing bubbles today... literally. It was Synn's idea originally - when you're stressed and frustrated, blow bubbles! (Besides, bubbles can't hurt anyone... paperclips, on the other hand, can do some damage! :D)

Pretty bubbles... bubbles, bubbles... :)

startover22
Apr 1, 2008, 10:16 AM
Awww, HC, blow the bubbles! That is great, sorry about your friend sweet!

HistorianChick

Great Grandpa (93) calls me on the phone... (mind you we live in the country and this could happen so I am not stupid) LMAO
He says, "dearest Start, I am calling because I went out to open the garage door and saw a man with a horse and wagon out there, did you call and have someone come out to give you and the kids a ride or something? I SAY... grandpa, I don't see anyone, are you crazy? He says look a little closer, I said nope are you a nut case?
He says Start honey April Fools.
I say... ohhhhh you will get yours, I was going to leave you alone cause of your age but now I am going to git cha! I love you Grandpa, bye... :) :) :)

Hello Everyone,

I'm not even supposed to be on the computer, but I thought I'd write you all a quick note to let you know that I'm okay. I had the eye surgery on Saturday, but it isn't the one I thought I was getting, they couldn't do it because my cornia is to soft. I had to gof for the mor invasive one which means a longer healing time and allot of pain. I've been out of commisssion since Saturday and I'm not supposed to use the computer or watch TV until Friday. Just thought I'd let you know. Sorry if there are tons of spelling mistakes, I can't read what I've written and spell check wouldn't do me much good right now. I hope it isn't to bad. Hopefully I'll talk to you all on Friday. I'm going back to bed now, because that's the best I can do right now. Take care all,

Alty

ihatewestseneca
Apr 1, 2008, 11:53 PM
But what is a super-bug MRSA?

ISneezeFunny
Apr 1, 2008, 11:53 PM
No, but mrsa... is not rare, but it's also hardly common.

Residents have a saying, "In hospitals, it's always mrsa..." referring to the infection that's available in hospitals.

If you want, you can try

Amazon.com: StaphAseptic First Aid Antiseptic: Health & Personal Care (http://www.amazon.com/StaphAseptic-First-Aid-Bactericide-Gel/dp/B000FUZIMU/sr=8-1/qid=1161116957/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-9007359-8725521?ie=UTF8)

I've never used it myself, but I have heard good things about it, apparently protects you from mrsa... although as I say again, it's not very common.

I don't mean to scare the misophobes (fear of germs), but chances are, as we keep using antibiotic/antibacterial things, the more we'll see medicine resistant infections and diseases... sooner or later, we're going to have to start pumping vancomycin (broad spectrum antibiotic) into the water supply...

starbuck8
Apr 1, 2008, 11:53 PM
Well I don't usually watch it either, but today's show caught my attention because of the topic. It's been all over the news, so I thought I would watch and try and find out what it's all about. There was good info on there!

ISneezeFunny
Apr 1, 2008, 11:54 PM
Mrsa - Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus

Form of staph infection that's resistant to a certain antibiotic...

It's pretty tough to get rid of... and can also kill... but again. Not very common.

starbuck8
Apr 1, 2008, 11:57 PM

Well my Dr. has diagnosed me with insomnia. He is limited to what meds he can prescribe because of other meds I take, but I don't like the side effects of the ones he has given me. I try and go the herbal route, but sometimes that just doesn't help either.

Wow, you should get checked out sneezy! That's not good for you if you aren't sleeping for days!

My corner of the world is near Nashville :)

Umm... Montgomery Gentry's song "My Town" is about my town... they live outside of where my Mum lives in KY. Seeing Eddie Montgomery in the pizza parlor and the skating rink is not an odd occurrence! :)

That's about it though...

Wow... I'm still quite impressed!

Montgomery Gentry is a great band. Its neat to see Eddie out and about with his kids around town. His brother, John Michael, has a restaurant a few towns over called... wouldn't you know it... John Michael's. LOL - its one of those western steakhouses and actually pretty decent.

Mmm... hockey. My Dad grew up in Quebec - its in my blood. I love the game and honestly, you can't get much hotter than hockey players! :D

Apr 2, 2008, 12:51 PM
Hockey players and country music singers... yup! lol I'm in a small city not far from Calgary. We had tons of NHL players come out of our small-ish city. I'm trying to remember the name of my sis's last conquest, lol. She lives in NC now, but she came home last summer to meet up with this hockey player. He plays for the Flames. He was in the news right around the play-offs last yr for getting in an on ice brawl with a Vancover goalie I believe. He got something like $100,000 fine and was suspended for the rest of the season.

:) no problem. We all go through it... I'm just being crabby as the weather's kind of been muggy. IF IT'S GOING TO RAIN, THEN RAIN DARNIT!!

OOH! Weird story... so I usually don't dream... it may have something to do with the fact that I never sleep... and thus, when I actually sleep, I just sleep. I know, "everyone dreams" fine. In that case, I never remember my dreams.

Last night, I was completely free... had NOTHING to do... so I slept around 11pm. Woke up this morning at 7am and realized... I had a dream!! It was a bizarre dream though... I kissed this girl that's been a good friend of mine for three years... and... I don't know. Just weird overall. I'm going to keep that one to myself.

She can't see too well yet, and she's not suppose to strain her eyes by being on the computer... which is understandable.

I've been resting since Saturday, in fact, rest is pretty much all I've been doing. I will be okay. They took the protective contacts out yesterday, which was not fun, and a bit painful. Now my eyes just need time to heal. My vision is already allot better, but still not perfect. Things are still a bit fuzzy, but that's mainly because my eyes are still so sore and strained. Today I just really want to give my peepers a really good rub (which is strictly forbidden). I've been putting drops in every 10 minutes to help with the scratchy itchy feeling, but it really isn't helping. The doctor said that from here on out I should feel better daily. I still need to rest the baby brown's and not overdue it, but I'm on the road to recovery. Let me tell you, this is not what I expected, and they didn't tell me that I couldn't have the more advanced procedure until 5 minutes before the surgery. They also told me that this procedure would leave me in unbearable pain for 5 days, but I still went for it. By the way, they didn't lie, the pain was undescribable, I'd rather give birth for five days straight than go through that again.

Enough about me, how have you all been?

HistorianChick
Apr 4, 2008, 10:11 AM
Urgh... that made my eyes water just reading your post! I have a thing about eyes... I'd rather go to the dentist than the optometrist! Blah... But glad they're getting steadily better.

I'm doing quite well actually... Looking forward to a weekend of nothing...

Ahh... I've put my finger on the whole "new attitude" thing... lol... last night at 2 am my neighbors above me woke me up practicing Riverdance. I lived with it for a half hour and then called the front office... completely incoherant and SPITTING mad (crossing HC is not wise)... I told them that my neighbors were in violation of section 15 of my rental contract and they were disturbing the peace. As soon as I woke up (6:30) I turned on Hootie and the Blowfish and cranked it up :D, got ready to leave, and left... Hootie was still jamming away... hehehe.. . not sure if my cd player is on repeat or not, but DON'T MESS WITH HC!

Was that wrong? It sure felt gooooood!! They woke me up one too many times at god-awful hours... this was the third time this week...

It definitely doesn't feel like sand, more like dozens of hot pokers jabbing repeatedly into your eyes. It was the worst pain I've ever experienced, and I had natural childbirth with both my kids. Yup, it was not good. At one point I was screaming to my husband, just dig out the eyes, I don't want to feel them anymore. I was really in bad shape. But now it's just irritable, the sand analogy works for how I feel now. Rubbing is bad because the cornea is still healing. But hey, guess what, I get to buy a new pair of sunglasses this weekend. My first pair in over 12 years. I can't wait.

Well, my grandparents have both seemingly forgotten the seriousness of the escapade last week and have said that they "don't need help" and that they'll leave for Maine when they feel like it... hopefully, this is just a phase and that they won't really leave... Its been an interesting couple of days on the family front. I bought 6 alarm clocks from target... set them all to go off every hour... 1am... 2am... 3am... 4am... 5am... 6am... and one weekend, when I went home, I hid them in various places of the room (under his mattress, inside one of his coats in his closet, in my shoe, in the microwave, in his nightstand drawer, and in his bathroom).

He apparently wasn't too happy about it.

One more time... WELCOME BACK ALTY!

Awww Alty, really, I had all four of my children naturally without meds... I still couln't imagine. Dang girl! You are one tough cookie! Some days we go through things and it all turns out right later. You will see things in a whole new way after this! Good job ALTY!! Cheers and Hugs!

OOO, Sneezy... I like the alarm clock idea... I'll have to find one of those old fashioned ones and somehow attach it to my ceiling... and leave for the weekend... :D Nice thinking!

Hey Sneezy my sweet, how are you? How's the apartment hunting going? Anything new and exciting. Man 5 days feels like 5 years.

Did you eat the muffing the HChicky left you? What kind was it? Personally I love blueberry. Did you save me a bite? I haven't eaten since Saturday, I could definitely use a muffin.

I'd rather have not gotten up... let me tell you! I was quite cozy... ;) But this darn work ethic I've been cursed with won once again... tomorrow though... tomorrow...

Yes, you do owe me one... and I'll make sure to cash in later...

I'll have to bring my muffin basket by your place this afternoon, Alty. Sneezy wouldn't mind sharing, I'm sure... He knows he'll get more... :)

ALTY! Has it only been 5 days?? You're kidding, right?

I DID eat the muffins that HC left me, and they were awesome. She made a sampler... lemon zest, blueberry, banana nut, chocolate chip, etc... although I did find it weird that she made 8... how do you take 2 extras? Perhaps you made 2 dozens and ate 4?

Sorry to hear about your ordeal, but if it's any consolation, the eye's a pretty amazing organ... its tissues heal faster than any other tissue on the body.

Yup, Alty brings out the inner flirt - she's as good as an expensive shot! :D We love our Alty!

Besides, Sneezy and I owe it to Alty to keep her informed of her arrangement... well... informed of the basics, that is... muffins, coffee, walking the dog, etc... everything else... ;)

Sneezy Dear, just wait until you try my Mocha muffins... you'll be in heaven...

Alty
Apr 4, 2008, 10:44 AM
Okay, all I needed was a few minutes. Remember, I've been in the dark for 5 days, so this whole light thing is taking a while to get used to.

Sneezy - Have a good day at work, I'll probably talk to you later on tonight, if I'm up to it.

HChicky - Could I have one of your glorious coffee concoctions?

HistorianChick
Apr 4, 2008, 10:45 AM
TGIF... Yesssss! I'm so glad its Friday.

Although, I am wondering if my CD is on repeat... Hootie is going to get a workout today... :D My neighbors deserve it though... I've been dealing with this for a while now, time to take action! May have to put on some Phantom of the Opera tomorrow morning! :D

Got a call from the office this morning - they said that they have called them three times this week... and that they are moving out at the end of May! Woo-hoo!

HistorianChick

The guy works weird hours that change constantly. They decide that they want to move furniture around, vacuum, line dance, practice power walking, you name it - at 2 and 3 am. I'm not all that of a light sleeper (its a good thing cause Sneezy's dog snores!), but the banging and the vacuum wake me up... it just makes me mad. Lol.. I've left some choice messages on the office machine lately...

Yes, it is apartment living, but come on! Consideration is vital!

Apr 4, 2008, 10:51 AM
MMMMMUFFFFINNNS! Yay, I long for muffins.

HChicky, could you come up with a specialty coffee just for me? I trust you completely. Can we call it the Alty? I would love a drink named after me.

It's a beautiful day today, the sun is shining the birds are chirping, the bunnies are, well, doing what bunnies do, and the dogs are snoring. Hey, wake up, look alive, it's day time you lazy little mutts. Nudge, nudge, don't you dare growl at me you little fur baby, pat, pat, sorry, mommy should know better then to wake a sleeping dog. Lullaby, go to sleep, just stop snoring, you're to loud. Sigh.

starbuck8

Apr 4, 2008, 10:54 AM
Hmmm... OK... Lets see... the Alty will be...

A double shot Latte with Ghiradelli Chocolate syrup, gooey Caramel, and one pump of Almond (or hazelnut... almond would be better though) syrup... a liquid super-turtle. :)

That work?

If you sign out and re-visit the site (without logging in) you can post answers to questions as a "guest" but you can't ask questions. There is a thread over in Active Members on the whole concept.

starbuck8
Apr 4, 2008, 11:05 AM
Ahhh, I see. Someone just answered a question under guest, and I thought it was disgusting.

HistorianChick
Apr 4, 2008, 11:06 AM
Really? Which thread? I've noticed that... some quests have good answers, but others, not so good. There is a way that you can report the posts and they will be deleted by the moderator. I think its "Report Inappropriate Post" up at the top right of the post box.

starbuck8
Apr 4, 2008, 11:09 AM
Mental Health Forum under the question... I have a terrible desire to be raped. I had to leave because I don't think some people were understanding (or reading between the lines) what the question was actually about.

I've never encountered a guest poster.

Starbuck, which thread is it?

HistorianChick
Apr 4, 2008, 11:11 AM
Ah... yeah... AMHD is designed to be anonymous... I don't see why people need to feel "more anonymous" by posting under a Guest name... but, I believe this is just a trial run to see if Guest status will remain.

You about ready for an Alty?
