I am a student more than 5 years. So I need to file as a resident alien. But according to treaty Article 20, I have a 5000 exempt income. My question is that do I need to file 8843 as previous years? The instruction says 8843 is for the purpose of substantial presence test. Since I am filing as resident, I should meet the test. How can I claim this 5000 exempt income? Do I still need 8843 for this claim?

On the resident return, you don't get any treaty benefit. You treaty benefits were only for 5 years. After that you don't file 8843.
