Hey

I am on F1 status. I went to school in Texas in 2007, and during the summer I did my internship in New Jersey.
Texas does not require state taxes to be filed. Do I have file taxes for the State of New Jersey. And what's the best way to go about filing the taxes for NJ. Is there some free website that I can use.
I read somewhere that, interest earned from bank is non-taxable when I on F1 visa. Is it true?

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me out.

Thanks.

Yes, you must file a NJ state income tax return, because money earned inside ANY state is subject to that state's tax laws.

Cannot help you about a free tax website for the state returns.

Yes, bank interest earned by a F-1 visa holder IS tax exempt.
