I've heard from some family members that there may be grants available for building a new house. I've done some searching online, but haven't been able to find anything. I live in Nebraska and am looking to build a house in a town of 6500 people. I heard there were grants for building in a town of less than so many people, some kind of program trying to get people to rural areas? Does anyone know where I could find information on such grants, if they exist?
Thanks!

You could always check if Habitat for Humanity could help.

Looks like you want the Department of Economics

There can be grants in some areas for down payments for first time home owners, also some "depressed areas" of major cities have grants, nromally these are city or county or maybe state, seldom federal
