Help! I had a red multipoint convergence issue across the top and bottom of the TV. I had lived with it for some time, then decided to call a repairman who said the chips needed to be replaced. After he replaced the chips, the picture was worse! Only half the picture showed and had lines all through it. Then he did something and the TV would not power on at all. I am really worried that the TV is broke now! He said something about maybe he had gotten ahold of bad chips, my question is would that cause this and could it damage the set worse then when he got here?? I don't want to get ripped off. Please help!

You didn't actually say what kind of set you have, but in all likeliness this could have been fixed in the service menu.

Unfortunately the crosshairs that were out of whack wouldn't move. It a 46 inch Philips projection TV (CRT style)

What happened that the convergence got out of whack in the first place?

Second, have you talked to the repair tech's boss regarding how they plan on fixing your TV since they managed to make it worse?

The probability that the chip set he received was defective is very low, but not impossible.

Not sure, may have been GRandam playing with buttons because she couldn't figure out how to work the remote, or the possibly the kids bumped it? Not too sure.
The unfortunate part is that we are rural and I called 15 different places before I found this guy, and he is just a one man operation :(
